The procedure is simple and convenient with minor discomfort. Our clinic uses an air chiller that cools the skin before, during and after treatment, making the treatment tolerable to most patients with simple topical anesthesia. For sensitive individuals, sedative can be given to make the treatment comfortable. Many patients describe the treatment as having a mild sunburn sensation.

Social downtime ranges from 0 to 5 days, depending on the energy and density settings of the laser.

Immediately after the procedure, the face swells up slightly and appears somewhat red. Unlike with other fractional CO2 lasers, typically there is no oozing. Patients notice immediate softening of wrinkles, fine lines and scars. Thousands of tiny white dots about the size of hair strand can only be seen close-up. Swelling subsides in 1 to 2 hours. The white dots become darker and disappear by third or fourth day.

The number of treatment varies patient to patient. Improvements are seen with the first treatment. Most patients require 1 to 5 treatment sessions, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.

On the treatment day, the entire visit lasts about 2 to 3 hours. The actual procedure requires about 20 minutes.
