WHAT IS REVLITE LASER TREATMENT?

RevLite  is an aesthetic laser machine that sends pulses of energy into skin. Treatment using this device targets pigmented cells or melanin and breaks them down into smaller pieces. HOW THE PROCEDURE IS DONE

RevLite SI treatment is relatively fast and easy. You just lie down and let the doctors work on your skin. If it’s your first time trying the treatment, you can consult with the dermatologist to determine your skin type and any problems with your skin. Here are the most basic steps of the treatment.

STEP 1: CLEANSE SKIN

Cleansing is the first step of the treatment. They will remove all makeup from your face. Depending on your skin type, the practitioner might also exfoliate your skin. It is important to remove dead skin cells and other impurities that clog the pores. This helps the laser penetrate your skin better.

STEP 2: MOISTURIZE SKIN

Moisturizing skin is the next step. The practitioner might apply serums and other products that contain active ingredients on skin. This helps improve the natural healing process, which is stimulated by RevLite SI. It is important to restore moisture on skin right after cleansing.

STEP 3: LASER TREATMENT

The third step is the RevLite SI laser treatment. If you haven’t tried the treatment before, it might feel painful but at a tolerable level. During the treatment, the laser passes all over the targeted area a couple of times. It might take a few more passes on problem areas for the treatment to completely work.

After the laser treatment, a cold compress or cooling, anti-inflammatory cream is applied on skin. This helps reduce the redness and sore feeling on skin. It is also recommended that you apply sunscreen before going out.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AND AFTER TREATMENT

Laser treatments might sound intimidating and painful, but they are surprisingly fast, safe, and quite comfortable. Here are some things to keep in mind to prepare yourself for the treatment.

1. You might be surprised if you noticed a burnt smell during the treatment. Do not be alarmed. This is because the laser targets fine hair too.
2. The treatment is virtually painless, but you might still feel slight stinging like rubber bands snapping against your skin. It’s not so painful that you’ll need analgesic creams. The pain is very mild and tolerable.
3. Doctor or practitioners usually warn patients before starting the laser pulse so you don’t get surprised or flinch during the treatment.
4. They do multiple passes over problem areas with dark spots and other types of discoloration.

When melanin, which gives our skin its color, is concentrated in one area, it causes unwanted spots in the skin. This is usually a result of overexposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays. What does the laser therapy feel like?

How many treatment sessions will it take before I see results?

Most pigmented lesions are removed within four to six treatments but some deeper lesions will require more treatments.

Tattoo removal, however, requires several sessions. On average, professional tattoos need 6 to 15 treatments, while amateur tattoos need 4 to 5 – this will still depend on the size of the tattoo, the amount and type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin.

Hair removal will also require multiple treatments because hair follicle on your body goes through three stages: growth, rest, and hair loss. These phases repeat in a cycle that varies according to your own body chemistry, therefore, you’ll need several treatments to obtain maximum results.

What is the spacing before my next treatment?

For tattoo removal you need approximately 4 to 8 weeks of spacing before your next treatment, however, for other treatments you can do this in approximately 2 to 4 weeks apart.

Post-Treatment

The treated area may feel similar to a mild sunburn. Laser skin rejuvenation may cause a mild to moderate redness, which usually fades within an hour or a day after treatment. No specific post-care is needed, although you will be asked to avoid sun and certain skin products for a period of time. It is important to follow your physician’s instruction and ask if you have any questions.

TIPS FOR POST-TREATMENT SKIN CARE

After the treatment, there are some precautions you need to take so you can protect your skin from damage. Here are some aftercare tips you should keep in mind for post-treatment skin care.

1. Use only gentle face wash for three days after the treatment.
2. Do not use toner or other strong skin care products that have whitening or bleaching ingredients.
3. Make sure that you apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day to protect skin from sun damage.
4. Avoid going to swimming pools, beach, or spa for three days after treatment.
5. Use cold water when showering or washing face. This helps prevent irritation on treated area.
