WHAT IS BUTT ENHANCEMENT?
Bust enhancement is a surgical procedure intended to increase the size and improve the shape of the rears either by means of fat transfer or insertion of implant material. It enhances body shape and balances contour to fit the body shape and size.
HOW IS BUTT ENHANCEMENT THROUGH FAT TRANSFER DONE?
Excess fat is harvested from other areas of the body (abdomen, hips, back or thighs) by a gentle liposuction technique using a special cannula. The fat particles are purified and inserted into the layers of the buttocks through very small incisions. By placing small amounts of fat in different tunnels, it increases the likelihood that fat particles will be surrounded by healthy blood supply necessary to nourish the fat cells and its survival.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BUTT ENHANCEMENT USING FAT TRANSFER TECHNIQUE?
This technique provides a more natural feel and better aesthetic result with an added benefit of liposuction from the donor site. However, significant fat absorption occurs early requiring a second procedure. There is no way of predicting this prior to surgery. Therefore it is necessary that a patient has adequate donor fat available to allow secondary grafting.
CAN EVERYBODY HAVE BUTT ENHANCEMENT USING BY FAT TRANSFER TECHNIQUE?
No. Very skinny individuals without enough excess fat to achieve the desired result are not candidates for this procedure. Their option is to have butt enlargement by inserting implant material.
IS THE IMPLANT MATERIAL USED FOR BUTT ENHANCEMENT THE SAME AS THE ONE USED FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION?
Buttocks implants are soft but much stronger than breast implants. They are made of elastomer so they can’t leak.
WILL THE IMPLANTS FEEL AND LOOK NATURAL AFTER THE SURGERY?
Yes. High-grade implants nowadays are very soft thus providing a natural look and feel.
HOW CAN THE RIGHT IMPLANT SIZE BE DETERMINED?
Choosing the right implant size is a decision that the patient and Dra. Montesa make based on personal preferences, weight, height, body built and shape, butt contour and original size.
HOW IS BUTT ENHANCEMENT USING IMPLANT MATERIAL DONE?
Butt enhancement is an out-patient procedure which takes about 2 to 3 hours under general or local anesthesia with sedation. Incision of about 2 to 3 inches is hidden in the crease between the buttocks. Through that incision, the implant is inserted and placed either under the muscles (submuscular) or between the gluteus muscle and its overlying strong covering tissue (subfascial).
WHICH PLACEMENT APPROACH IS SO FAR THE BEST?
Placement approach is dependent on the original butt size, contour and preferences of the patient which shall be discussed and agreed upon during the consultation.
WILL THERE BE ANY VISIBLE SCAR?
Incisions are hidden and will be nearly invisible once the healing is completed.
WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE?
There will be swelling, minimal bruising and mild to moderate pain. The butt will be tender and feel tight. A surgical support garment has to be worn for 1 to 2 weeks for comfort and to minimize swelling. Prescribed antibiotics and pain relievers shall be taken to prevent infection, reduce the swelling and address the discomfort. The patient can sit from the first day of the surgery. However, prolonged sitting right after the procedure is not encouraged.
HOW SOON CAN A PATIENT GO BACK TO WORK?
Much of the swelling is resolved in about 5 to 7 days making it possible for the possible to go back to work. However, for those with strenuous job, it may take 3 to 4 weeks.
HOW SOON CAN RESULTS BE SEEN?
Significant improvement can be seen right after the surgery. When the majority of the swelling and bruising is gone by the 2nd week, the butt will start to look and feel more natural. The final result will be evident at 3 to 6 months when all the swelling has resolved.
WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES FOR THIS PROCEDURE?
Good candidates for this procedure are those who are generally healthy, emotionally and psychologically stable, with realistic expectations, and want extra fullness in the upper or lower part of the buttocks. Candidates are advised to disclose their medical history, illness and medications during the consultation.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS?
Complications are very rare. Occasional risks include asymmetry, bleeding, unfavorable scarring and infection.
